COLUMBIA — Two men struck a victim in the head with a pistol and fired shots during an early Wednesday armed robbery in north Columbia.

Columbia police responded to a robbery on the 2900 block of Northland Drive shortly before 1:30 a.m., according to a Columbia Police Department news release. Once there, police learned that two men accosted another man in a parking lot on the block. During a struggle with the victim, two gunshots were fired, and the victim was struck in the head with a pistol.

The victim was not struck by any of the gunshots, and he was able to escape to get help. He was later taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life threatening.

By the time police arrived, the suspects had left in two separate vehicles. There is no suspect information, according to the release.

Anyone with information about the crime, can call the Police Department at 874-7652 or CrimeStoppers at 875-8477.
