COLUMBIA — A pedestrian was hit by a Columbia Transit bus near Tenth and Ash streets on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred a little after 8 a.m., Columbia Public Works Department spokesman Steven Sapp said. The pedestrian was taken to University Hospital. The extent of the pedestrian's injuries was not known.

No other injuries were reported.

The Columbia Police Department was investigating the incident, Sapp said. The driver was removed from driving duties while the police investigate.

The public works department has no record of a bus hitting a pedestrian in the last five years, Sapp said.
