Proud World War II veteran Roy Shettlesworth loved fishing with his family

COLUMBIA — Roy R. Shettlesworth of Ashland died Monday, June 16, 2014. He was 97.

He was born June 4, 1917, in Easley to Grand and Nora (Perkins) Shettlesworth.

Mr. Shettlesworth was a proud veteran of World War II and enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Iris Price; his son, Jack Shettlesworth; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

His wife, Geneva Shettlesworth; two brothers, Arlie Shettlesworth and L.T. Shettlesworth; and one sister, Opal Sanders, died earlier.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will follow at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery at the same address.

Memorials contributions can be made to Bluegrass Terrace, 102 Redtail Drive, Ashland, MO 65010, or to a charity the donor's choice in Mr. Shettlesworth's name.
