COLUMBIA – Two groups exchanged gunfire in north Columbia on Wednesday night, but no one was injured, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 5300 block of Currituck Lane around 8:13 p.m. According to the release, three to four male suspects got out of a white sedan and fired multiple shots at two people standing in front of a residence. The two people returned fire before the suspects got back into the car and drove away.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a number of cartridge casings.

At least one residence and one vehicle in the area were damaged by the gunfire, according to the release.

A police investigation is ongoing.
