COLUMBIA — A vehicle with four passengers was shot at Friday morning just outside of Columbia, leaving no injuries.

A man said he heard gunfire as he drove past a slow-moving vehicle on East St. Charles Road near Clark Lane at about 3:30 a.m. Friday morning, according to a Boone County Sheriff's Department news release. The victim's car had at least one bullet hole, and deputies picked up more shell casings in the street. There were no reported injuries.

The victim's car also had three female passengers, two of which ran from the scene before deputies arrived. No information was available about the passengers and why they fled, Detective Tom O'Sullivan said.

The driver told deputies that he believed the shooter's vehicle to be a dark colored model, possibly an older Toyota.
