Michael David Fritz dies at 72

COLUMBIA — Michael David Fritz of Indianapolis died Thursday, June 26, 2014. He was 72.

He was born June 17, 1942, in Leon, Iowa, to Herman and Thelma Fritz. 

Mr. Fritz attended Hickman High School and graduated from MU with a master's degree in construction management. After graduation, he relocated to Pittsburgh, Pa., where he worked in the steel industry for 40 years. He eventually retired as the vice president of a structural steel manufacturer. 

Mr. Fritz is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret McTurnan Fritz; a sister, Marsha Fredericks; two daughters, Angela Fritz and Polly Zielaskowski; three grandchildren, Alec and Lauren Zielaskowski and Wyatt Fritz. 

His parents, who lived in Columbia, died earlier.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Robertson Chapel at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 100 West 86th St., Indianapolis. Family will receive friends and guests after the service.
