Man injured in central Columbia shooting

COLUMBIA — A Thursday-night shooting in central Columbia left one man injured.

Columbia Police Department officers were dispatched to the intersection of Garth Avenue and Oak Street after receiving a report of gunshots at 8:15 p.m., according to a police department news release.

After officers arrived, they learned that a 39-year-old man had been taken to a local hospital in a personal vehicle. His injuries were not life threatening.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
