Wolf captured alive month after escape

Tuesday, July 8, 2014 | 4:45 p.m. CDT

ROBERTSVILLE — A month after a wolf escaped from an enclosure at an eastern Missouri home, it has been caught alive.

The Washington Missourian reports that Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke announced capture of the animal Tuesday. Tolke says the timber wolf was trapped by its owner.

The wolf was one of two that escaped from a caged area in Robertsville in early June. A short time later, one of the wolves killed sheep on a farm and was shot and killed by the farm's owner.
