COLUMBIA — A teenage driver crashed into the front of the El Maguey restaurant on Conley Road and the adjacent nail salon early Tuesday morning.

The car struck a column between El Maguey and 4 Seasons Nails at 21 Conley Road shortly after 2:20 a.m.

Latisha Stroer, spokeswoman for the Columbia Police Department, said that nobody was injured but the building received minor damage when the car rammed into it.

The driver, a 15-year-old girl, was taken into custody for a traffic violation, Stroer said. Stroer would not give the nature of the violation, and she said there were two other people in the car, which was towed from the scene.

The wreckage at the scene Tuesday afternoon included broken windows, which had been sheltered by plywood after the accident, and damage to the external concrete wall separating the two storefronts. Large wooden boards were supporting the awning above the restaurant's entrance.

Despite the damage, both El Maguey and 4 Seasons Nails remained open Tuesday. The building is owned by TKG Management Inc. Jessica Hudson, a property manager with TKG, declined to comment on the extent of the damage to the property.
