COLUMBIA — A 36-year-old Jefferson City man was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of assaulting a teenaged umpire at the Show-Me State Games

Columbia police were called to the Show-Me State Games at Cosmopolitan Park at 7:20 p.m., police spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.

The incident occurred in the parking lot after a baseball game ended, Stroer said. The 15-year-old umpire was tackled to the ground and held down by Curtis Howell of Jefferson City, Stroer said.

Howell was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault, a municipal misdemeanor, Stroer said. Howell was later released on signature summons.
