William Karl Attebery, Dec. 23, 1936 — July 28, 2014, of Fulton

COLUMBIA — William Karl Attebery, Jr. (Karl) was taken to his heavenly home by The Triune God on July 28, 2014, passing at his home in Fulton, MO 9:28 AM. Karl was born on December 23, 1936 the son of William Karl Attebery, Sr. and Alice Attebery (Hasson) in St. Louis, MO. God made Karl His child by Holy Baptism on January 17, 1937 at the Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church in Maplewood, MO.

Karl was united in marriage to Mary Ann Attebery (Weymann) on June 20, 1959; his wife of 55 years. She remains in their home located in Fulton, MO. Karl has three Living children, Cynthia Marie King (Attebery) of Knoxville TN, David Karl Attebery and his wife Sherrie Attebery of Fulton MO, and Michael John Attebery of Shelbyville, TN. Karl and Mary Ann also have one foster child, Gail Simms, of Columbia, MO. Karl is survived by one sister, Janet Wuczynski, of Cape Coral, FL.

After his marriage Karl became a member of the Lutheran Church, MO Synod. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulton, MO, until God joined him to His Church Triumphant upon his death.

Karl has five grandchildren - Jason King of Washington D.C., Bethany King of Los Angeles, CA, Katie Wu (King) of Memphis, TN, Aaron Attebery of Overland Park, KS, and Andrew Attebery of Fulton, MO.

Karl graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and was employed through his professional life as an Electrical Engineer. He was an ROTC officer in the United States army receiving an Honorable discharge as a First Lieutenant on November 15, 1968.

Karl’s wife and family are thankful to God for the life of Karl. He will be greatly missed here but we rejoice with him that God has granted him rest and taken him into his care.

Services will be held on Friday August 1st at Trinity Lutheran Church, Columbia MO. Visitation will be from 12 – 2 proceeding the service at 2pm. Graveside committal will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia. Arrangements under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Concordia Seminary, 801 Seminary Place, St. Louis, MO 63105.
