COLUMBIA — Bullets struck two Columbia homes late Wednesday night on the 4500 block of Rice Road, according to a police news release.

No injuries were reported after the shootings, which occurred at 11:56 p.m., but a white automobile was seen leaving the area, Columbia police spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said in the release. Officers who remained on the scene located multiple shell casings, and additional officers began searching for the vehicle.

Boone County sheriff's deputies and Columbia police attempted to pull over a white passenger vehicle matching the description near Broadway and Trimble Road, but the occupants got out of the vehicle and fled.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department and its K-9 unit, the Missouri Highway Patrol, and the Columbia police K-9 unit located one of the occupants after the chase.

No arrests had been made, Stroer said, and the investigation was continuing.
