Tuesday, August 12, 2014 | 5:31 p.m. CDT; updated 8:37 a.m. CDT, Wednesday, August 13, 2014

COLUMBIA — The intersection connecting Buttonwood Drive and Providence Outer Road will be reconfigured in an effort to reduce left-turn crashes, according to a Missouri Department of Transportation news release.

The reconfiguration will prohibit left turns onto Providence Road from Buttonwood Drive and Old Route K, though drivers on Buttonwood Drive and Old Route K will still be able to turn right onto Providence Road. Likewise, drivers on Providence Road will still be allowed to turn left onto Buttonwood Drive and Old Route K.

Work will begin Sunday evening at 8 p.m., weather permitting, and end Monday morning at 6 a.m. Construction will resume Monday at 8 p.m., ending early Tuesday morning before drivers begin their commutes to work, according to the release.

Drivers may encounter some delays and center-lane turn closures on Providence Road while work is underway.

Supervising editor is Landon Woodroof.
