COLUMBIA — Mediacom announced Thursday it has reached an agreement to carry the SEC Network.
The announcement came just one hour before the network's scheduled launch time at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Mid-Missouri customers: 51 (standard definition) and 734 (high definition)
Mizzou Cable: 30-4 (high definition)
"We've really had this thing set up and ready to go," Phyllis Peters, Mediacom communications director, said. "It's just a matter of opening up our access to the system."
The network will be available to all states in the Southeastern Conference served by Mediacom as of Thursday night. Other states will be available later.
For residents in the mid-Missouri area, the network will be included in the family cable package that already contains ESPN, ESPN2 and other networks. Customers can find the network on channel 51 in standard definition and 734 for high definition.
The channel for Mizzou Cable will be 30-4. Those with TVs on campus will need to perform a channel scan to find the channel, according to Jana Bott, manager of strategic communication for the UM System's Division of IT. Bott said the feed should start coming through Thursday night and will most likely be able to be found by Friday morning.
Mediacom customers will also be able to watch the network through authenticated access on their tablets or computers.
Each SEC team will have at least one game broadcast on the network, including Missouri's Sept. 13 home game against Central Florida.
