Martha Singleton loved refinishing furniture and gardening

COLUMBIA — Martha Sue Singleton, of Columbia, died Friday. She was 76.

She was born March 21, 1938, in Columbia to James Cecil and Sue Mae Edwards Grant. She married Donald Lee Singleton on Oct. 27, 1958.

Mrs. Singleton loved playing cards, antiquing and tinkering around the house with her husband. They refinished furniture together and cared for their flower garden. Most of all, she was a loving and caring woman.

She is survived by two sons, Randall Lee Singleton and his wife, Sherene, of Lexington, Ky., and John Singleton of his wife, Heidi, of St. Louis; three daughters, Susan Singleton, Brenda Marie Singleton and Stephanie Arroyo and her husband, Timothy, all of Columbia; four brothers, Don Grant of Punta Gorda, Fla., Bobby Grant, Russell Grant and James Earl Grant, all of Columbia; three sisters, Lois Garrett of Fayette, Mary Lou Ballenger and Patsy Watt, both of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren, Spencer, Taylor, Alexa and Skylor Singleton, Ella and Quinn Singleton, Morgan Carter, Jessica Cropp, Haley Chadderdon and Madison Arroyo; and four great-grandchildren, Jaslyn and Elijah Singleton, Ayden Cropp and Ava Chadderdon.

Her husband, Donald Lee Singleton, and her sister Claudia Butzin died earlier.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St. A private burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
