Columbia College cross-country teams excel in Early Bird race

COLUMBIA — The Columbia College men's and women's cross-country teams posted strong results at the Gabby Reuveni Early Bird in St. Louis on Saturday, with the men winning the event outright.

The Cougar men had four participants finish at the top of the 6k event: Cris Renteria finished in second place at 19:26, followed by Tommy Skosky (fourth), Brennan Cape (sixth) and Michael McCulloch (seventh). Devin Sander (18th), Seth Schenck (38th), Cody Gorham (46th) and Jordan Andrews (49th) finished within the top 50. 

Columbia College's Lindsey Martin finished first overall in the women's 4k with a time of 14:27. Other women to finish in the top 50 were Riley Fader (sixth), Emily Shultz (ninth), Maggie Noble (30th), Emily Deeken (45th) and Julia Montgomery (48th). The women's team finished third overall.

Both teams will be back in action for the Southern Stampede in Joplin on Sept. 20.
