Contest opportunities

Some of the contests offered at the Missouri State Fair :

  • Hidden Valley’s new Family Friendly Food Contest invites adults to create homemade, original recipes using the Original Ranch flavor of Hidden Valley Dressing & Seasoning Mix.
  • The Fleischmann’s Yeast Bread Competition invites people to cook and submit their favorite bread. Bakers 19 or older can enter alone or with a child as a team. The bread must be made with Fleischmann’s yeast, and a brief description should be included along with each entry.
  • Special Spam recipes can be showcased at the fair’s National Best Spam Recipe Competition. Contestants must use at least one 12-ounce can of Spam in their original recipe, which can include up to nine other ingredients. Winning recipes and contest information can be found at by clicking EAT SPAM.
  • The Martha White Cornbread Challenge calls for any original main dish recipe using at least one cup of any variety of Martha White Corn Meal or one package of Martha White (or Gladiola) Cornbread Mix. All entries must be cooked in a cast-iron skillet.
  • The Herb-Ox Bouillon Comfort Food Contest invites participants of all ages to cook up their favorite foods that always seem to leave them feeling cozy and satisfied. Contestants must add at least two packets, two teaspoons or two cubes of Herb-Ox Bouillon Instant Broth & Seasoning in any flavor to their recipes.
  • The Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust Championship is back, and its total prize money has increased. Contestants of any age must use Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust to make a two-crust fruit pie.
