Top forward orally commits to Tigers

Marshall Brown of Austin, Texas gave Missouri assistant basketball coach Tony Harvey an oral commitment to join the Tigers’ class of 2004. ranks Brown, a 6-foot-6 small forward, eighth in the country at his position.

“I felt really good about it and my family is behind me,” Brown said. “I like the coaching staff and I think I’m going to be able to come in and play.”

Brown said Missouri’s chances of success in the future were also a reason for signing.

“They had a top recruiting class and they can be a national contender and that definitely helped my decision,” Brown said.

Brown averaged 24 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in his junior year at L.B. Johnson High School in Austin.
