How to obtain a permit to carry concealed weapons in Boone County

  • Boone County Sheriff’s Department, 2121 County Drive

    Beginning Oct. 14

    8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday

    Applications may also be made on these Saturdays: Oct. 18, Oct. 25 , Nov. 1 and Nov. 8

  • Hallsville Police Department, 202 Highway 124 East

    Beginning Oct. 11

    9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday

    Other hours by appointment

  • Ashland Police Department, 107 East Broadway

    Beginning Oct. 14

    8 a.m. to noon, Monday-Friday, walk-in applications

    1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday by appointment only


    • Photo identification

    • Photocopy of certificate of completion of a firearms safety training course, signed by a qualified instructor

    • Non-refundable $100 application fee, in cash, money order or traveler’s checks

    • Applicants will also need to provide two full sets of fingerprints for criminal checks. The process is expected to take 15 to 30 minutes per applicant, and officers will also conduct specific background checks after the application is received.

    Permits will be issued within 45 days if the application is approved.
