Rockford hits Mavs for 20th defeat

The Mid-Missouri Mavericks lost to the Rockford RiverHawks 14-2 on Sunday at Marinelli Field in Rockford, Ill.

The loss dropped the Mavericks to 3-20.

The RiverHawks (15-8) scored four runs in the first inning and had 18 hits off five pitchers.

Scott Sobkowiak earned his first win of the season, striking out six and allowing four hits and one run in six innings.

Mavericks starter Courtney Hall (0-2) gave up six runs and six hits in three innings. Blake Blase hit a solo home run, his sixth, in the Mavericks two-run eighth. Blase went 2-for-3 with a walk.
