Viers leaves Westminster athletics

Chris Viers, the Westminster College volleyball and softball coach, resigned Thursday.

Viers, a 1982 Missouri graduate, coached at Westminster for the past four years, leading the Blue Jays volleyball team to a 72-52 record and the softball team to an 18-78 mark.. He began his career in 1983 as the Columbia College volleyball coach.

WRESTLING: The MSHSAA Board of Directors voted to add a fourth class to wrestling for the 2004-05 season, reducing the number of schools per class from 70 to about 52.

The board also decided to keep the state tournament at Hearnes Center, extending the tournament to three days to allow for an additional 224 wrestlers. In 2005, the tournament will be from Feb. 17-19.
