Tuesday, July 13, 2004 | 12:00 a.m. CDT; updated 5:06 a.m. CDT, Monday, July 7, 2008

Columbia police are looking for two men who they say robbed the Midwest Petroleum Store, 111 Hitt St., at 12:20 p.m. Monday, according to a release.

The two men came into the store, showed their handguns and demanded money and other items, the release said. Employees gave them “an undisclosed amount of money,” and the two men were last seen running west from the market, police said.

Scott Harrison, an employee who was working the cash register Monday afternoon, said he had relieved the employees who were present when the armed robbery took place. Harrison said the two men took less than $500, a couple cartons of Newport cigarettes, and a bottle of Crown Royal whiskey.

Police are looking for two males in their late 20s, both wearing black hooded sweatshirts and black jeans. One has several silver-capped teeth, the release said.

Police are requesting anyone with information about the crime to call Crime Stoppers at 875-8477.
