WILDWOOD — A 3-year-old boy who found a loaded gun in his parents’ home accidentally fired a bullet at his grandmother, grazing her neck.

Nancy Fawcett, 65, was treated at a hospital and received 10 stitches, her family said.

The boy’s family had been packing for a move when a .22-caliber rifle fell from a mounted rack. The boy found the gun and walked to the living room. He managed to advance a round into the rifle’s chamber. Peeking around the corner, he pointed the rifle at Fawcett and pulled the trigger. The boy’s mother, Renee Hansen, said the bullet barely missed Fawcett’s head. St. Louis County police were investigating the incident as an accident.
