Sixteen members of the 1954 MU baseball team will be reuniting in Columbia this weekend to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its championship season.

Coached by John “Hi” Simmons, MU defeated Rollins College 4-1 to win the 1954 College World Series. MU ended the season with a 22-4 overall record and an 11-1 conference record earning the Big Seven Conference crown.

The 16 members will be recognized Saturday at Faurot Field during MU’s football home opener against Arkansas State. Last February, the 1954 team was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in Springfield.
