MU set a new record in private fund raising, school officials said Thursday.

The university said it raised $130.6 million in the fiscal year that ended June 30. The school set its previous record of $121.5 million in fiscal year 2002.

Both years saw large, individual donations. In 2002, Bill Laurie and family donated $25 million for the new basketball arena. Earlier this year, the Reynolds Foundation gave $31 million to establish a journalism institute.

MU has a $600 million goal for its For All We Call Mizzou fund-raising campaign, which runs through 2005. The school has raised about $468 million.
