The Mizzou Diving Club performed well on the first day of competition at the 2005 Amateur Athletic Union Diving National Championships in Largo, Florida on Tuesday.

David Bonuchi, 13, finished fourth on the 3-meter springboard in the 13-and-under age group. His teammate Dylan Parham, 12, finished ninth.

“Three meter is our weakest event,” coach James Sweeney said. “Our best events are still to come.”

Daniel Bonuchi, 10, will compete on the 1-meter springboard for the 11-and-under age group Friday.

On Saturday, David and Dylan will compete on the platform.

“I have a good feeling that David is going to win on platform,” Sweeney said.

Sweeney and David will head to the Speedo National Junior Diving Championships in Huntersville, North Carolina. David will compete on the platform on August 4.
