Gunfire was reported near a nightclub in north central Columbia early Saturday after a fight broke out between several people.

Columbia police were responding to a report of people fighting outside the Silhouette Nightclub, 3405 Clark Lane, when shots were fired, police Sgt. John Worden said.

“Several people were seen running from the scene,” Worden said. “Bouncers said people were fighting outside when shots were fired.”

Worden said police questioned three partygoers at the scene and discovered several drops of blood. He said police did not know if the blood was a result of a gunshot injury or a cut from the “many broken beer bottles” found near the nightclub.

Anyone with information regarding Saturday’s shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 874-8477.
