A young man was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon after police responded to a medical emergency outside an MU residence hall.

When MU police arrived at 11:41 a.m. at the east side of Laws Hall, they found an unresponsive male on the sidewalk, MU police Capt. Brian Weimer said. The man was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Weimer said police would not release the name or other information about the man until his family has been notified, but he said the man was probably in his late teens or early 20s.

MU police are investigating, Weimer said.
