The Rev. Amy Cortright blessed more than 20 dogs, cats, birds, hamsters and gerbils at Calvary Episcopal Church’s Blessing of the Animals ceremony Wednesday. “The blessing gives thanks for pets and the companionship they offer to their families,” said the Rev. Joe Chambers, chaplain for campus ministry at MU. The ceremony celebrated St. Francis Day which honors St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
