Worshippers, most of whom had pamphlets containing the program and lyrics for the day’s events, sing and pray in communion at the Courthouse Square observance of the 56th Annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday.

About 200 people showed up at the Courthouse Square in Columbia to participate in the 56th Annual National Day of Prayer. Most participants had pamphlets that contained the programs and lyrics for the worship songs. The few rain showers were not enough to stop people from singing along with the band on stage. The ceremony ended with a prayer for Columbia, led by the Rev. Tom Leuther.

Pam Pinney, left, Sheila Ruffin, center back, and James Canon pray amid the day’s rainy weather at Courthouse Square on Thursday.
