CARBONDALE, ILL — The Missouri softball team reached the NCAA Regional Championship game with a 7-4 win over Southern Illinois University yesterday and will face No.-1 seed Depaul at noon today.

Missouri, 2-1 in the regional, would have to beat DePaul twice to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals next weekend. It’s the second time in the last three years that the Tigers reached the NCAA Regional Championships.

Missouri began Saturday with a 2-0 loss to DePaul, forcingthe Tigers into the game against Southern Illinois.

It was Missouri’s 40th win of the season, the 11th time in program history that the Tigers have won 40 or more games in a campaign and Head Coach Ehren Earleywine’s fourth consecutive 40-win season. In addition, this makes Earleywine just the fourth Tiger softball coach (of eight) to win 40 or more games.

Freshman Jana Hainey threw five complete innings against the Salukis and struck out three to improve to 7-5 on the season.
