COLUMBIA — A masked gunman stole a woman’s purse Tuesday night in the 200 block of Anita Court, according to Columbia police.

East District Captain Zim Schwartze said the 45-year-old woman was visiting the area and was robbed in the parking lot of an apartment building.

The gunman took the woman’s purse before fleeing on foot behind the building. The woman was not injured during the robbery, which happened around 10:20 p.m., the police said in a news release.

The woman told police the suspect was wearing a black jersey, black sweat pants and a black stocking cap over his face when he held her at gunpoint.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call 875-8477. Callers who give information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,500.
