Hulshoff should have voted to override president's veto

Monday, October 22, 2007 | 6:28 p.m. CDT; updated 9:17 p.m. CDT, Monday, July 21, 2008

Last Thursday our representative had a chance to show independence from the president on an issue that has the overwhelming support of the American people and especially the people of Columbia.

Where was our representative when he could have voted to override the president’s veto of a fully-funded health care bill to provide 10 million children with needed health care?

Who is our representative? It is, at this point, obviously not Kenny Hulshoff. Yet Mr. Hulshoff will get another chance to follow his “good” conscience and the will of the people to vote for the health care of our children. No specious excuses, no ideology, no out-of-touch party politics is in order when it comes to doing the right thing.

Rep. Hulshoff must put the least among us first and vote for the health care needed by our children. We Columbians are a forgiving and tolerant people; yet two wrong votes on this issue will not be forgotten.

Thank you David Sanchez (hmmm...name a giveaway?) for revealing your 'The Government Will Take Care Of Us' insecurity and flaws. Thank you even more Rep. Hulshoff for watching my pocketbook so that free riders like Davy here don't leach off my hard work.

The dementia that passes for political consciousness is nearly total. How can any self-respecting community not stigmatize a creature of the Money Power like Hulshoff? Being a Stalinist dittohead for the illegitimate Cheney-Bush regime is indictment enough, but to fund its criminal assault on Iraq $9 billion a month without debate and yet squawk about replenishing SCHIP is just abject sociopathy. Remember, this is essentially the same mob (including DLC Democrats) that wiped out 500,000 Iraqi children age 5 and under during the 12 years of sanctions, so maybe they're taking this in stride. We should be taking to the streets on this one.
