Andrew Gibson's Profile
Upon entering journalism school, I knew I'd eventually fill out a biography on the Columbia Missourian website.
But I didn't think it would be as a Web-analytics specialist. I started at MU wanting to be a words-on-paper politics reporter and have since evolved into a sort of online specialist. I love creating interactive graphics, writing code and, as part of my role here, ensuring the Missourian understands how people are consuming its online content.
In the past, I've worked as a business-reporting intern at The Colorado Springs Gazette and as the online/interactive intern at the Orlando Sentinel. Around Columbia, I've done radio reporting for KBIA-FM and TV reporting for KOMU-TV. I also spent a semester at the Missourian working on the Community Outreach Team, which focuses on making news less of a lecture and more of a two-way conversation (in the wise words of editor Joy Mayer).
I'm also president of the Online News Association club at MU, which holds events aimed at making journalism students more digitally savvy.
When I'm not in the newsroom, I'm probably scrolling through Twitter, drinking lattes or running. Oh, and if you ever want to talk about anything Colorado-related, I'm your guy. What can I say -- I miss my home state.
