T.J. Thomson's Profile

T.J. Thomson is an award-winning photojournalist, designer, and writer. Thomson founded Cenevox LLC in early 2013 as his flagship brand to represent his imaging interests and unify his professional presentation to his growing audience.

Cenevox strives to accurately and objectively document news through engaging and visually-striking photojournalistic pursuits. As its name infers, it is the balanced “New Voice” of visual storytelling.

Thomson captured the 2013 Student Photographer of the Year title, awarded by The Great Plains Journalism Awards Committee in Tulsa, Okla. Branded as “One of the most prestigious journalism awards in mid-America, the Great Plains drew almost 800 entries from an eight-state region,” according to Ashley Parris, contest committee chair.

His work has been featured in top international wire services and news agencies, including the Associated Press, Washington Post, Huffington Post, and Religion News Service.

Recognizing the value of supporting the industry, Thomson has maintained membership in numerous regional and national associations since 2009. His industry affiliations include the National Press Photographers Association, Colorado Press Association, Denver Photo Club, and the American Society of Media Photographers.

Thomson has worked in collaboration with MileHigh Newspapers, Great 8 Newspapers, and Our Colorado News in his home-area of Denver, Colo. In addition, he has also been published in the Omaha World-Herald, The Kearney Hub, and The Grand Island Independent. Other career highlights include photographing Miss Nebraska 2012 in the fall for ACCLAIM magazine.

Thomson sees the future of journalism not as a dying art, but as an expanding landscape. He believes that people will always have a need for news, and although the medium may change, the need for a strong and responsible message will remain.
