Ashley Szatala's Profile
Community beat writer, Ashley Szatala
Journalism student with an emphasis in magazine editing.
WHAT I DO? I am a community beat reporter at the Missourian. I go out in the town each week and look for story ideas to write about.
TYPE OF JOURNALISM INTERESTED IN? I am passionate about grammar. I love it. Grammar jokes crack me up. I enjoy discussing grammar rules. I love grammar so much that I would love to be an editor, especially of books. I get the most satisfaction helping to make other people's work tight and as great as possible.
ORIGINS? I am from Sandusky, Ohio. Sandusky is about an hour from Cleveland. Think you've heard of Sandusky? It's quite possible. Sandusky is home to Cedar Point Amusement Park, which is the world's largest roller coaster amusement park and has some of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the world. It was voted this year as "Best Amusement Park in the World" for the 16th year in a row. The ironic thing? I'm too scared to ride a single roller coaster.
HOW I SPEND MY FREE TIME? If you catch me outside of the newsroom, I'm usually spent trying to talk to my friends in Spanish. If I'm speaking English, then I am still either hanging out with friends, my boyfriend or talking to my parents. I can also be spotted at the Rec lifeguarding. My hobbies include volleyball, swimming and canoeing.
