Ciera Velarde's Profile

I'm Ciera Velarde and I am a community reporter for the Columbia Missourian. I’m studying magazine journalism with an emphasis on magazine writing at the Missouri School of Journalism. I am also minoring in political science and religious studies.

Although I currently call Columbia home, I’ve lived in Dallas, Southern California, the San Francisco area, Detroit, Tampa and El Paso, Texas. So, it might not come to a surprise that my dream job would include traveling the world to practice journalism. My favorite kind of stories to write are personal profiles about ordinary people doing extraordinary things, which is what I will be able to do this semester as I work for the Missourian.
