Hudson Kyle's Profile
Junior – Magazine Writing, Missouri School of Journalism
I sit a long way from home as a write this — some 800 miles, to be more specific. San Antonio, Tex., is where I was born and spent my first 18 years of life.
What, then, could have possibly compelled me to pack my things, share a few lingering hugs and head north for Missouri?
The simplest answer I can give you is writing.
Writing is there when I wake up in the morning and lies heavy in my head as I fall asleep. Other things come in between, but writing is my fuel and my decompression, what makes me move and what keeps me still.
So that’s why I’m here. I chose a field of study that I thought would allow me to improve my writing the most. No matter the direction journalism takes, strong, carefully crafted writing will always be at its core.
I won’t pretend to know what I’m doing while I’m here on staff, but I can guarantee you that every story I write — for Vox or the Missourian — will be the product of my best efforts to improve my own ability and to serve the Columbia community.
