I'm a Missouri native — originally from the Cape Girardeau area — where I worked for the Southeast Missourian newspaper for 15 years. There, I created a religion news section and worked on several niche publications. I loved being part of the community and hearing from readers about how stories changed their opinions and sometimes their lives.
I've been at the Columbia Missourian since 2005. One of my favorite projects of late is the CoMo You Know encyclopedia. We're trying to collect entries on all things Columbia, and I'm learning tons about the people and places that make our community so interesting. If you have an idea for an entry, please contact me.
I'm a new mom, so I don't have much time for hobbies anymore. But, if given the chance, I'd be in the garden. I've completed classes as a Missouri Master Gardener, but I'm by no means a gardening expert. I just like playing in the dirt; it gives me as sense of peace and renews my hope in the world to watch my perennial plants sprout each spring. I also like to knit, but I'm really slow and can only do flat objects right now.
I'm married to a former journalist who now works in Jefferson City. In addition to a daughter, we have a dog who loves to walk on the MKT trail and two cats.
