WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO MISSOURI? I came to Mizzou in the spring of 2014 after nine months at The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne, Ind., as a reporter on Indiana and Purdue University basketball and football. I also covered the local minor league baseball team during my time there. I was looking for a change of pace and know I want to teach somewhere down the road, and the faculty and staff here at the Missourian sold me immediately.
WHAT'S YOUR BACKGROUND? I'm from the Chicagoland area, as everyone from about an hour outside Chicago will tell you. My hometown is Northlake, Ill., which is about 15 minutes outside the city. I went to Indiana University for my undergrad and worked at the student paper at IU, the Indiana Daily Student, for my first two years there as a sports reporter, sports editor and multimedia editor. From there, I went on to intern at Inside Indiana, an IU-sports focused magazine, the Indianapolis Business Journal, The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Va., and then on to The Journal Gazette for my first job.
WHAT'S YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK LIKE? I've played some volleyball in my day, so if you ever want to set up a pick-up game, I'm your guy. I like being outdoors, reading and pretending I can play basketball. If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out. I'm pretty much always on or near my phone.
