Tracy Cook's Profile
I cover general assignment reporting at the Missourian.
Who I am:
My name is Tracy, and I am a reporter for the Missourian. I am a junior majoring in journalism, with an emphasis in print and digital news, and economics at the University of Missouri. Originally from Philadelphia, Pa., I was one of two students from my high school class to come to MU (and one of only a handful to venture west of the Mississippi).
Why I chose journalism:
The summer after my junior year of high school, I attended a five-week program at Northwestern University, lovingly referred to as "Medill Cherubs." I had written for the school newspaper and worked in the television studio, but this program immersed me into the journalism field like nothing else could have. I had such a positive experience that I decided journalism was what I would pursue in college.
What I do outside of the newsroom:
In my free time, you can find me playing basketball at the MU Student Recreation Complex. I also enjoy traveling and writing. I will always be a proponent of long-form journalism.
