Veronica DeStefano's Profile
University of Missouri undergraduate studying in the Magazine Writing sequence through the Missouri School of Journalism.
I am a Community beat reporter for the Missourian since January 2014. I get to do what I love on this beat by talking to really interesting people all around Columbia. I seek to showcase people, businesses and groups that the community doesn't know about and should.
As a Chicagoland native (Naperville, Ill., to be exact) the Chicago Tribune was one of my first encounters with print journalism. Even before that, I have always been flipping through the pages of magazines, with Vogue, Teen Vogue, W and Nylon being among my favorites. Once I realized that my dream to design clothes wasn't going to work out because of my love/hate relationship with sewing machines and lack of original ideas for design, those magazines are what I turned to for my career choice. I aspire to work at a fashion and culture magazine someday to spread the influence of the art of fashion as well as do features on all that is important. In the meanwhile, I spend my time cheering on the MU Tigers in any capacity, meeting people, praising good Italian food and wearing mid-calf socks.
