Veronica DeStefano's Profile

Hello friends! I am a University of Missouri undergraduate studying in the Magazine Writing sequence through the Missouri School of Journalism.

I am now one of the many cogs in the news machine, focusing on community involvement from my perch at the Community Outreach desk (and out with the people, of course). People give me energy and I love learning their stories. I (and the Missourian) want to hear what you have to say!

As a Chicagoland native (Naperville, Ill., to be exact) the Chicago Tribune was one of my first encounters with print journalism (though, I interned at the Chicago Sun-Times, so that might make me a traitor or something). Even before that, I have always been flipping through the pages of magazines, with Vogue, Teen Vogue, W and Nylon being among my favorites. Once I realized that my dream to design clothes wasn't going to work out because of my love/hate relationship with sewing machines and lack of original ideas for design, those magazines are what I turned to for my career choice. I aspire to work at a fashion and culture magazine someday to spread the influence of the art of fashion as well as do features on all that is important. In the meanwhile, I spend my time cheering on the MU Tigers in any capacity, meeting people, praising good Italian food and wearing mid-calf socks.
