Mike Odette preps mushrooms

Odette is one of 20 semifinalists for Best Chef in the Midwest region in the prestigious James Beard Awards, which are known as the Oscars of the food world. “It came along when I really needed something like this, professionally and personally,” Odette said. “It’s really energized me.” The five finalists in each category will be announced on March 23.
