Students in Lisa Schenker’s fourth-grade class retrieve their “bio boxes” from the window sill at Grant Elementary on March 6. Visible through the classroom’s single-paned windows are five trailers that house second- and fifth-grade classes at the 96-year-old school. Replacing the windows is scheduled for this summer. Other building improvements, costing $7 million, are included in the proposed bond issue.
