Shirley Keller mixes pigment with water at Stephens Lake Park on Saturday as part of the Au Plein-Air Art Day contest, where participants sketch and paint outdoors, then submit their day's work for judging. Keller uses liberal amounts of water in her watercolors and paints on slick Yupo synthetic paper that allows her paint to roll around and bleed more than usual, an effect she likes.
