November 7, 2009 | 8:04 p.m. CST
Dr. Alison Goate, a professor of genetics in psychiatry at the Washington University School of Medicine, speaks at the Second Annual Research Forum of the Alzheimer's Association Mid-Missouri Chapter on Friday. A molecular geneticist, Goate led a team in England in 1991 that identified the first early-onset Alzheimer's mutation in the APP gene. Subsequent research has discovered two more mutations that contribute to the development of Alzheimer's.
