Missouri is now one of only two states in the U.S. to legalize the use of the atlatl, a prehistoric weapon, for deer hunting. An atlatl can be used by inserting a dart into the spur, gripping the handle and flinging the atlatl forward, releasing the dart. Below is a description of the parts of an atlatl and dart, which, when assembled, are about the weight and length of a broom.
