Capital punishment: How Missouri administers lethal injections

When a Missouri inmate is sentenced to death, he or she is strapped down and injected with three chemicals. Measured doses of thiopental and pancuronium bromide paralyze and render the prisoner unconscious before an injection of potassium chloride stops the heart. In 2009, Dennis Skillicorn was the 67th and most recent prisoner executed in Missouri.
