Quilting with Marilyn Russell

Every Tuesday a small group of 15 to 16 women meet at Community United Methodist Church on West Broadway to quilt and socialize. Most women stitch together quilts for friends and families, but others, like Marilyn Russell work on their own independent projects.

Russell, along with a few of the other women, is working on a quilt inspired by civil war diaries, following in the footsteps of author Rosemary Youngs who wrote “The Civil War Diary Quilt.” The book inspired Russell to add a part of her family's experience with the war to her groups' quilt with a block called "The cannonball."
