MAP: Find fossils in several areas in Missouri
September 20, 2011 | 7:21 p.m. CDTFossils in Missouri can be found wherever there are rocks. The most fossils can be found in rocks from the Cretaceous through the Silurian-Devonian periods. To safely hunt for fossils and get leads on hot spots, join a local rock club or browse the State of Missouri’s geology bibliography and maps at dnr.mo.gov/geology. Fossil hunting on state and federal lands and private property without permission is illegal.
